No Vegetables?

1st Day School 2009 003We are deep in the middle of a VEGETABLE DEBATE at our dinner table every night.  Since I am by myself with the girls at dinner I am frustrated and exhausted by the constant debate and negotiation.  I almost forgot this old trick to get the veggies in. 

Recipe for kid friendly “NO VEGETABLE PASTA SAUCE”- 1 pack cherry tomatoes, 1 red pepper, 1 zucchini, some carrot- sautee then puree and serve over favourite noodles. 

This is very simple and not overdone, it has no spices and some natural sweetness from the vegetable choice.  It’s the new favourite at our dinner table – a no vegetable meal.  Yah right, never going to happen at our table, but for 1-2 nights a week my toddler thinks she has won the great vegetable debate.  The beauty of this trick is, it’s a bargaining tool for eating extra vegetables the next night or” if you have no veggies tonight I don’t want any complaining the next night”.  Dinner is definitely getting smoother by reintroducing this old trick.  With a strong willed toddler it’s not the recipe that’s brilliant, it’s the reduction of complaining that makes this work for me.

Great busy mom workout today doing a 4 exercise barbell circuit with a repetitive core exercise between each barbell exercise.  Any barbell exercise can be substitutedwith dumbbells or kettle bells.  Pick up more of these fat burning workouts in Baby Bump Busy Mom Fitness.
